A novella about a boy named Mick and his struggles with life. His parent’s divorce and a friend’s suicide make his world unbearable. Each “cut” has a deeper meaning. A cry for help.

“I spin my dad’s Ruger SP101 revolver on the wood floor of my bedroom. Sometimes, just to see what it feels like, I place the tip of the gun against my temple, but I never once pull the trigger. NO!”
“I’m more into the slice of the blade against my skin and the blood running down my arm.”
“It relieves so much pressure.”
“And I can breathe again…”

Book Club Readings

Hello fellow readers,

Last year I joined a Book Club. I'm not sure why I didn't think of posting the books we read and a short review of what I thought about the book on my blog so now I am. I will include a link in case any of my readers are interested in reading the book themselves. We meet once a month so for January reading we read Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah.
It was my second time reading the book as I read it years ago, and loved it then as well.
Beware may contain spoilers...

My review: January book MAGIC HOUR
by Kristin Hannah

Like the first time, I loved the book just as much as the second time through. But now that I'm in a book club there are things you might not think about when you are reading a book or even after you've read it. Now, I have some questions that were never really clarified at the end of the book.
First: She never told us the whole story with Max, after Julie said that he could tell her the story when he was ready, so I guess he was never ready?
Second: Did Julia ever go back to Seattle and get her stuff? Did she close down here practice that went down the drain due to a patient killing people? Did she sell her condo? Known of that was made clear.
Third: If Alice was ankle cuffed in the cave the whole time, then how did she know her way back to the cave when she wasn't really outside of it when they all went to find it so they could catch the killer/kidnapper?

It's a great story to read, I did really enjoy it, but I guess like other books, there are thing that go unanswered, which is our job as a writer to make sure we have answered all the questions. All bows must be looped, so to speak. It was a heartfelt book that kept me reading and I do recommend to readers that love to read women's fiction.

In the rugged Pacific Northwest lies the Olympic National Forest—nearly a million acres of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past.

Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. The shocking facts of Alice’s life test the limits of Julia’s faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice—and for herself. In Magic Hour, Kristin Hannah creates one of her most beloved characters, and delivers an incandescent story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the meaning of home.

HELP ME! receives its first review on Amazon. I have also listed it below.

By
This review is from: Help Me!: Once I slice, it relieves so much pressure, I can breathe again... (Volume 1) (Paperback)
Help Me! is the story of what bullying can do to a person. Mick is a teenage boy dealing with his parents divorce, losing his friend to suicide and dealing with bully's who make his life miserable. Layla is the one girl who is willing to talk with Mick and ends being a great friend to him but notices that he is hiding something until one night that will change the both of their lives forever.

This is a quick read but it brings a strong message of bullying and suicide, a topic that needs to be addressed in school. I do believe this book needs to be in schools everywhere just for the message it brings about what bullying can do to a person. Losing someone to suicide is never easy and heartbreaking for the family and friends who are effected by it but even more for the person who went through something that nobody can understand even with all the help in the world, nobody can change their mind once it's made up.

Thank You to Donna M. Zadunajsky for writing a book that brings a topic that everyone like to hide out in the open.

I received this book from the Author in exchange for a honest review.

Author Donna M. Zadunajskyabout this bookThis book is about teen suicide and the struggles they face as they are growing up. I was inspired to write this book because my daughter knew someone who wanted and tried to kill himself. I choose to go with this cover because her friend was a cutter.

So many kids and adults out there are suffering from something we all know as depression. There are so many that we don't always know who they are. They could be the person we sit next to on the bus or in our math class at school. They may not show any signs of self-destruction on the outside, but on the inside, they want to die, or at most, hurt themselves because they don't think they're good enough, pretty enough, or likable enough. But the truth is, they are loved more than they know. Is it that they don't see it? Or is it that they don't think they're loveable enough for us? How is one person born without these thoughts and self-esteem issues, and another that just wants their world to end? Is it their lifestyle that makes them feel a certain way? Maybe a parent, an alcoholic or drug abuser is abusing them at home? We all live and are raised differently, but what makes us become so depressed that we want to end our life? I'm sure most of us have experienced some kind of bullying in our life. Maybe when we were in school, or maybe even at our job where we work. There's always someone who has to be better than us or get his or her own way. Maybe they feel more superior when they're bullying other people?

I don't know all the answers, but I do know that we need to do something about it.
